Analytical solution for shallow-water wave equations
Dr. Baran Aydın
Adana Science and Technology University, Department of Civil Engineering

Short CV- Dr. Baran Aydın
Dr. Baran Aydın graduated from the Department of Mathematics at Hacettepe University (Ankara) in 2002.
He then enrolled, as a Ph.D. student and research assistant, the Department of Engineering Sciences at Middle East Technical University (Ankara). Between June 2007 and May 2008 he studied at the Department of Coastal and Ocean Engineering at Texas A&M University (Texas, USA) as a visiting scholar.

He completed the integrated MS/PhD programme in 2011 with his dissertation on the analytical solutions of long waves (tsunamis). Dr. Aydın is with the Department of Civil Engineering, Adana Science and Technology University (Adana, Turkey) since 2013. His research interests include analytical solutions of differential equations, in particular, the equations governing tsunami generation and propagation.

Evaluation of unbound granular pavement layers with non-destructive test methods
Dr. Volkan Emre Uz
Adana Science and Technology University, Department of Civil Engineering

Short CV- Dr. Volkan Emre Uz
Dr. Volkan Emre Uz graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering at Suleyman Demirel University in 2001.
In the same year he is accepted to the Civil Engineering Master Program at the same university. He has worked as an engineer in a highway construction company before he has become a research assistant at the Department of Civil Engineering at Erciyes University in 2002. He received his MS degree in 2004.

His master thesis, entitled “Bikeway Geometric Design Principles” was used as a guide for Bikeway Regulation Standards by Ministry of Environment and Urban Planning. He enrolled the Civil Engineering PhD program at Suleyman Demirel University in 2007. During his PhD studies he elected for a scholarship by Turkish Higher Education Council and he worked as a visiting researcher at University of Wollongong (Australia) between 2009 and 2010. In his PhD studies he focused on laboratory evaluation of plastic deformation behavior of unbound granular pavement layers. His PhD thesis has been awarded as the best PhD Dissertation of the Year in 2013 by Turkish Road Association.

Dr. Uz is now working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Adana Science and Technology University. His research interests include pavement design, non-destructive pavement evaluation techniques, and pavement materials. Dr. Uz is the principle investigator of two research projects funded by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey and General Directorate of Highways. He is a member of the Turkish Road Association.
