Traineeship - Unicusano

Traineeship

In addition to traditional study mobility, undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students enrolled at Università degli Studi Niccolò Cusano can, through the Erasmus+ programme, undertake a traineeship in a company or organisation abroad.
It is possible to carry out a traineeship experience from the first year of study, as well as after graduation (recent graduates).

Traineeships abroad can last from a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 12 months, although they usually do not exceed 6 months. During university studies, it is possible to alternate or repeat Erasmus+ mobility experiences abroad (either for study or traineeship purposes), within an overall limit of 12 months per study cycle.
For single-cycle degree programmes (such as Law), students may benefit from a total mobility period of up to 24 months.

Interested students must apply through the mobility call, which is independently managed by Unicusano. Applicants must be enrolled at Unicusano, which holds the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE), and must participate in the annual call published by the institution.
To ensure quality, the mobility period must be consistent with the student’s academic path and personal aspirations.
§Eligible host organisations for traineeships can vary widely. However, some institutions—such as EU institutions and other European bodies (including specialised agencies and organisations managing EU programmes, such as National Agencies)—are not eligible.
§Students who are unsure where to carry out a traineeship abroad can register on the ErasmusIntern platform promoted by the Erasmus Student Network. By signing up and selecting “I’m looking for an internship,” they can create a profile and search for companies or organisations that best match their academic and professional goals.

Before departure, it is necessary to:

  • Sign a Financial Agreement covering the mobility period, between the home institution and the student;
  • Prepare a Learning Agreement for Traineeship (Before the mobility), defining the training programme to be followed abroad. This document must be approved and signed by the student, the home institution, and the host organisation.

At the end of the mobility:

  • The host organisation must provide the student with a certificate confirming the duration of the mobility, the activities carried out, and the results achieved (Learning Agreement for Traineeship – After the mobility), including acquired knowledge, skills, and a final evaluation;
  • The home institution will recognise the completed and certified activities.

Students can go to one of the 28 EU countries, the three countries of the European Economic Area (Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway), and countries that have signed bilateral agreements with the European Commission.

Erasmus+ students may receive a specific EU grant or benefit from Erasmus status only (without a grant). In both cases, students retain the right to receive national scholarships and/or loans during their mobility period.
The mobility grant is a contribution towards travel and living costs for the entire duration of the traineeship abroad. It is calculated as a lump sum defined by the relevant National Agency, in agreement with the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research, and in compliance with the limits set by the European Commission.
