Erasmus Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) AI and IoT for Measurement Systems in Health and Energy Sectors – 2nd Edition
We are pleased to announce the second edition of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) dedicated to the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT) for advanced measurement and monitoring systems in the health and energy sectors. This programme offers a multidisciplinary and international perspective, combining a solid online theoretical foundation with hands-on, practical laboratory sessions in person, fostering high-level collaboration among European students and researchers.
Programme Structure & Core Dates
The course follows a blended format designed to perfectly balance distance learning with intensive practical activities:
- Virtual Component (Online): 24 September, 1 October, 8 October, 15 October 2026. Synchronous sessions held every Thursday from 14:30 to 17:30 (CET).
- In-Person Intensive Week: 26–30 October 2026 at the Department of Engineering, Università Niccolò Cusano in Rome, Italy (Start: Monday at 14:30 – Conclusion: Friday at 12:30).
Main Topics & Learning Objectives
The curriculum guides participants through the entire lifecycle of a smart measurement system: from the physical and metrological characterization of sensors to data stream management, predictive algorithms, and regulatory compliance.
- AI and IoT Foundations for smart measurement systems and distributed sensor networks.
- Healthcare Applications: Metrological characterization of wearable and contactless sensors for non-invasive physiological monitoring and emotional recognition.
- Energy Applications: Numerical modeling of smart grids, real-time predictive energy management, and sustainable mobility.
- Advanced Prototyping Labs: Machine learning pipeline deployment, hardware-in-the-loop simulations, and the use of immersive virtual reality environments for industrial training.
Target Audience & ECTS Credits
The programme is designed for selected advanced Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. students in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, and Applied Mathematics. Participants will be awarded 3 ECTS credits upon successful continuous evaluation, which includes online conceptual quizzes, active laboratory performance, and a final group presentation delivered to an international scientific committee.
Committee, Faculty & Participating Institutions
The implementation of this programme relies on a robust alliance of prestigious European higher education institutions. The official core network of participating institutions within the Official BIP Consortium Framework includes:
